Sugar Factory, Ochsenfurt, 2014

$4700

In 2013, I sailed on the Danube, Rhine-Main canal with the cargo barge MS-LUMA (MotorShip Lujza-Maya, named after the captain’s two daughters). The road ran from the southernmost point of Hungary to Germany’s northernmost part, near the Netherlands. There were many inspirations along the way. I was especially captivated by the visuals of an industrial impression with the sugar factory striking in the light of the setting sun in Oschenfurt. Two techniques are used to create this special artwork. In the upper part of the picture, the silhouette of the sugar factory and the sky striking from the river has a pixel effect, while its image reflected in the river has an impressionistic effect. The warm colors of the sunset provide a soothing, romantic, and even almost kitschy world of experience.
