Dam in Zetelak, 2017

$2000

I noticed a forgotten, rusting steel plate at a summer artists’ colony in Transylvania, Romania, which gave him the idea to make this new work. I returned to the site the following summer, I arrived with a steel cutting machine to cut the plate, which has been left out in the open ever since. The natural rusting process of the steel plate created exactly the picture we can still see today. This evokes the winter view of a reservoir and dam formed by the damming of the nearby Zetelaka stream. The work created by the erosion processes was painted with acrylics to preserve the image’s durability and stop the rusting processes further. This is how the work was made as a work of nature. Landart-themed work also draws attention to the importance of environmental protection.
